We have chosen a very different book to read this time - War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Reading it is proving to be an 'emotional rollercoaster' as described by one member of Chatterbooks and I think we all agree! Right from the very first page, it is a very moving book that has a powerful effect on the reader.
Synopsis (summary) of the book: At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.
So, if you are interested in reading an emotionally challenging book written by a renowned (well-known/famous) author then we recommend you try War Horse, we don't think you will be disappointed.
