This week you should research your favourite poems. You should then select one of these, study the meaning and practice performing it with expression.
You will be expected to perform the poem to the class (you can have the poem as you perform and do not need to memorize it).
You should also be required to write a passage about the poem, with a minimum of 100 words, in your English lesson in class on Thursday 28th January (you can make notes and bring these into class with you). In this passage you could be expected to refer to the following:
The title and author
The type of poem e.g. lyrical, narrative, rhyming etc
The meaning of the poem
An explanation of what is happening what it is about
The structure of the verses and lines
The rhyme scheme
The language used and why it is effective or ineffective
Any other interesting observations or thoughts
