This week in RE, we have been finding out about promises. Pastor Phil came in to visit us and to talk about promises in the bible. We also wrote our own promises, reflected on broken promises and thought about when different promises are made. My favorite part of the day with Pastor Phil was when he explained about Adam and Eves sins and why God banished them and how God made the possibility of evil. He also said that even though Noah was a good man he still disobeyed god like Adam and Eve and Abraham. Now Abraham was promised to be blessed throughout nations if he did gods will but just like Adam and Eve and Noah he disobeyed God and his people where banished to Egypt where they where enslaved and forced to make sphinxes and pyramids .Abraham's people cried out to god and said you promised you'd bless Abraham so God gave them one last chance so God sent Moses to free them witch he did and God let them back into Israel and then they disobeyed God again!

The R.E day was very fun. I enjoyed this day a lot. At the start of the day we went into our English classes and learnt about promises. We learnt about baptism and godparents, marriage, nuns and monks and monarchy. We had to research about all four topics and write down some facts about them on a table. We also had to write a promise which we told someone and someone broke it or if someone has told you a secret/promise and you have broken it. We had to write about how it made us feel and the people who might have betrayed you or you have betrayed them. Then Pastor Phil came in and talked to our English class about the bible. Pastor Phil told us some of the promises that God made to Abraham, Adam, Eve, Moses and lots more people and most of them disobeyed God. We asked lots of questions which Pastor Phil knew all of the answers to. After that we wrote about Pastor Phil and what he told us. I learnt that it was Eve who picked off of the ‘forbidden’ tree however Adam got punished for it because God told Adam that they shouldn’t pick the fruit off of that certain tree and Adam didn’t take any notice and didn’t tell Eve. I learnt that there are 3573 promises in the bible and the word promise itself occurs 50 times in King James Version of the bible.

I really enjoyed our Religious Education day which was on Wednesday 6th January 2016! It was all about promises and was cleverly linked to the new year's resolutions that you make. We started our day by writing our new year's resolutions. The categories for your new year's resolutions were about your personal promises along with your school, local and global promises for the new year. We also talked about famous broken promises in history and we wrote an appropriate example linked to our topic. Every single one of us wrote about any promises that we'd broken or any promises that someone had broken to us. At the end of the day, we found a famous promise in the Bible and we wrote it down in our R.E books. I think my favourite part of the day was seeing Pastor Phil and hearing him answer my question.

On Wednesday I learnt that only 360 out of 3000 people kept their New Years Resolution. This survey only went on for a few weeks and yet, still, only 12% could keep their New Years Resolution. I also learnt that people that get married make a promise to look after each other forever. I learnt that breaking promises has a huge effect on the other person and how they might not trust you as much anymore. I enjoyed it when we made our own promises and promised to keep them. I also liked it when we learned about the promises that people make all around the world like nuns, husbands and wives, godfathers and Baptists and monarchy's as it helped me to think of my New Years Resolution.

When Pastor Phil visited, we learnt that when God told Adam to not pick an apple, it was actually Eve who picked it! We also learnt that God promised Adam that God would one day forgive Adam and God would want to speak to him. God also promised David that he would one day rule his land. God promised Abraham that he would bless Abraham's family through him. Also he promised Noah that he would never flood the world to damage it ever again. I found out that because Adam's family did wrong, all of the people of Adam's line were punished in some way. My favourite part was when Pastor Phil told us about when Eve picked the apple and how that affected Adam's family.

When Pastor Phil came in, he told us about the promises in the Bible. There were 4 major promises given to 4 men. The first was given to Adam. God promised Adam that eventually god would want to see him again and be friends with him again. The second was given to a man called Noah. God promised him that he would not destroy the whole Earth again by means of a flood. Abraham was promised that he would be a father of many nations. This then eventually came true. God then promised David that the kingship would come through his line always and that the Christ Jesus would come through his line as well.

Pastor Phil came in and talked to us about the bible and its promises. It was a very interesting day and learned a lot. I learned that after Adam And Eve had broke that promise many generations after them broke Gods promises. I also learned that God punished the people who broke the rules by sending them as slaves in Egypt and they had enough so they pleaded to God to get them out. On that day the part that I most enjoyed was making up our own resolutions because it was very creative and fun making life better.

I learnt that every promise led to the one Adam and Eve broke when they ate the apple off the tree that god told them not to go near.i was also amazed the Mary and Joseph were both in the royal line so that made Jesus a natural king.

When Pastor Phil came in we learnt about how broken promises and how it effected our lives now.If Adam hadn't eaten from the tree there would be no evil and no decisions! After that Noah broke a promise and slaughtered animals to eat.Abraham broke the promise of obeying God and following his commands. They got put into Egypt where they cried for God to save them.He sent down Moses to save them. The same promise was made to David who also broke it but nothing bad happened to David...
